What does a Mariachi band, public transportation (know in Phoenix, Arizona as the light-rail), Mexican food, the City of Chandler, and a ton of web guru talent have in common? It turns out these were just a few of our favorite things from the WordCamp Phoenix 2011 conference this weekend in our home state of Arizona.

We have been gearing up for WordCamp for months now, and we feel a bit like a lost puppy in the woods now that it is over. Sad to see it as a memory but excited to share that we learned a ton, met a lot of amazing internet entrepreneurs, and even had a few surprises. Shall we start with the surprises?

Wordcamp Phoenix 2011 – Surprises

  1. I guess it is only fitting to kick off the conference with a celebratory mariachi band at 9:00 o’clock in the morning. Check it out….
  2. A dance off? No Really I thought that was a good idea. If you peek very carefully you can pick me out as the guy who decided to perform the bowler through the middle of the crowd….

Wordcamp Phoenix 2011 – Internet Entrepreneurs

  1. Although we were able to speak with a ton of amazing and talented internet masterminds this weekend. There were two that we heard from the we would love to mention and share. Cory Miller is someone we truly respect and admire. This weekend he inspired us by passing along quotes like;

    “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” -African proverb

    Thanks Cory!

  2. We also got some great search engine optimization advice to pass on from the great Corey Eulas. We sat in on Corey’s SEO master class and learned some great stuff about what’s in store for 2011. Above all, Corey left us with this;

    “Above all else write great content cause if your not doing that, all the other stuff doesn’t matter.” -Corey Eulas

    Thanks Corey!

It was a great weekend and we are excited about what’s in store for 2011! Thank you to all of the volunteers, sponsers, and developers, for an amazing weekend at WordCamp!

We are proud to call ourselves WordPress website designers.

    It was great meeting you at WordCamp. I can’t believe I missed the Dance Off.

  3. William Lindley says:

    (duplicate post, sorry)

  4. METRO is the trolley, or the *light rail line* — not “the light rail.” There is no such thing as “a light rail” — have you tried to pick up a rail? It’s OK to call them trolleys, and please do.

    1. Cody says:

      Can’t we just call it “the rail”? Its short. Its hip. Its trendy. I like it!
