We have been doing SEO for years now, over that time we have found and tested countless different SEO tools. Here are 8 great tools what stand out in our mind, which we wanted to share! Some are paid tools and some are free. Here’s a rundown of software, websites and plugins that we use on a daily basis to help our clients out!
The Google Keyword research tool is a great free tool from Google. We normally start off any consultation research with this tool. This tool helps us estimate Google search numbers and competition on any given keyword. Hint: make sure you select the “Exact” on the “Match Types” on the left sidebar.
This is a great tool by SEOmoz, and one of our favorites to use! This helps us keep an eye on backlinks to check the quality of our incoming links. A new feature also allows you to track Facebook shares & likes, Tweets and Google +1‘s!
Website grader is a tool by Hub Spot, it analyzes any URL on the web by crawling various on and off page factors and giving you a score based on metrics. If you can get a website grade of 90-99 that’s a great score!
Rank Tracker is our favorite tool for checking ranks, SEOmoz has a nice tool to check online, but we feel that Rank Tracker provides a much better solutions for reporting and automation. There is a free version to download, but you need to pay for the full version to save campaigns and reports. This is a one time fee with unlimited future updates, well worth it!
SEOmoz gives you great reporting of ranks, one flaw is that it only checks if the site is in the top 50 positions, whereas rank tracker shows rankings up to 100. You can also only check up to 5 keywords per day with the free version. Very cool.
The SEOmoz on page report card is a fantastic tool to analyze your keyword usage and how they appear on any URL, then gives you a grade A-F. This is a must use tool!
We us WordPress for most of our web sites, and have used all major “SEO Plugins” from Platinum SEO, All-In-One SEO, along with others. This plugin takes it one step further with advanced in page analysis similar to the on page report card above – but you dont have to leave your site, and you can see your changes instantly!
This is a great plugin for creating a sitemap on your WordPress site, its created by Arne Branachhold and is supported by Google itself and complies to the sitemaps.org guidelines. Dont forget to submit your sitemap to your Bing and Google Webmaster accounts!
There are many, many more SEO tools out there, these are just 8 great SEO tools that we use on a regular basis. We would love to get feedback and input on the tools on our list, but most of all lets hear what your favorite tools are!
